The Maryland DREAM Act is about educating our Maryland kids. It provides a way for our military stationed here, veterans and our talented youth, regardless of their immigration status-- to pay the same price to attend Maryland community colleges and Universities, as their high school peers. They or their parents must file taxes. They will NOT take away seats from other Maryland kids. Their slots will NOT be counted in the overall in-state tuition pool. The DREAM law is smart & sends a clear message to our children--working hard and doing well in school matters.
The Maryland IAF – a network of over 85 religious congregations and community organizations in Baltimore, Howard County, and Montgomery County – is spearheading a campaign to organize people of faith throughout Maryland for the DREAM Act. We are collecting 20,000 voter pledges in support of the DREAM Act to raise awareness of this crucial legislation and to demonstrate public support for the initiative in the face of efforts to repeal it on the Nov. 6, 2012 ballot. Our faith calls us to embrace the stranger, and voting for the DREAM Act in Nov 2012 is a way to put our faith into action. Thank you for your pledge of support.
